1. Grameen Foundation was founded in 1997, inspired by the work of Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank. Their microloans sparked innovation and entrepreneurship among the poorest of the poor. Professor Yunus was a founding member of our board of Directors and today serves as member emeritus.click here

At Grameen Foundation India, we believe that when poor rural women are empowered with knowledge and commensurate resources, they are able to transform their lives and the lives of their larger communities. Grameen Foundation, founded as Grameen Foundation USA, is a global 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Washington DC that works to replicate the Grameen Bank microfinance model around the world through a global network of partner microfinance institutions.
